Classic Cafe East is widely appreciated for its authentic Newfoundland cuisine, featuring beloved local dishes such as touton, fish n’ brewis, and molasses-based specialties. Reviewers consistently highlight the cafe’s friendly and attentive service, creating a welcoming and unpretentious dining atmosphere. The quality of the food is noted to be both hearty and satisfying, with particular praise for homemade bread and generous portions. Coffee is also a standout, frequently mentioned as a key component of the dining experience. While the menu leans towards simple, traditional fare rather than gourmet offerings, customers value the honest, affordable meals accompanied by charming harbor views. This is the sweetest little cafe. The food was incredible, and the service was amazing. The homemade bread made for the best toast. I can't wait to come back.

We came here and tried the breakfast along with traditional dishes like the Touron with Molasses and Newfoundland Beans. Both were absolutely delicious and highly recommended. I would say that the home fries and eggs were delicious as well.Put pancake syrup and molasses on the Touton! It’s so delicious that way.

This is a simple dining experience. It's a quiet spot with good coffee, friendly service, a lovely view over the harbour and good, cheap food. You won't get fancy meals here but you'll get good ones and you'll get them in an honest and friendly way from someone who's clearly happy to see you.

I had never had fish n brewis so I thought I'd try the Classic Cafe East. The food was excellent and hot. Tracey was very friendly. The price excellent. The rest of the menu looked reasonable too! Thank you

Great diner! The hostess was super friendly and helpful. Great breakfast menu with some Newfie classics. And they keep the coffee running as all good diners should. Among the best touton I’ve ever had! Be careful with the hungry man breakfast though, that portion is huge! Would definitely recommend!

The cutest little diner downtown with a great menu and great prices. Didn't look like a lot of indoor seating but they were very fast at serving. Their fish & brewis with toast was incredible, large portion and delicious. A great start to my day.

The place was very packed when we arrived and the service was slightly slow. In their defense, there was one waiter and a lot of people were coming and going. I decided to order the classic breakfast and it was quite standard fare. The actual standout thing was the bread. It seems like their bread was either homemade or freshly baked. Having very good pricing, local specialities, good bread, and bring nearby to the Hilton Hotel make this place a great spot to just get some quick brunch. Recommended

Great classic east coast diner! Solid portions and really tasty stuff. Simple fare but perfect after or before a long hike. Staff are super friendly and the place is always full. Probably the best Touton in Saint John’s!! Prices are super reasonable. I highly recommend the fish and brewis for a classic dish. Would fully recommend!!
